Crystal loves to teach! She trains one-on-one and in classrooms, from beginner to advanced, using and programming, remote and face-to-face. Crystal teaches Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Camtasia, HTML, XAML, VBA, C#, XML, JavaScript, and more. She has been using, developing on, and teaching about PCs for 29 years … and training even longer — as a college student, Crystal tutored her peers; in high school, she tutored kids in junior high.
Crystal first received the Microsoft MVP award in January 2006 for Access. She began making video tutorials to teach Access on YouTube three years ago and now has 2 channels with over 200,000 combined views, covering Access, Excel, and other Office applications, Windows Phone, and Windows 8. All of her video tutorials are captioned and some have been translated into other languages.

Kevin Bell is a test engineer on the Microsoft Access team in Redmond Washington. Prior to joining Microsoft in 2008, Kevin was a partner in a consulting practice in Colorado that specialized in building software solutions for small businesses and departments in large corporations. Their primary development environment was Microsoft Access connected to a SQL Server backend. Over a 15+ year consulting career he has created a variety of custom applications from a management system for a small drapery shop with a hand full of users to a compliance tracking system for a large insurance company with hundreds of users in multiple locations.
Like many Access Developers, Kevin’s career with Access started by accident. While working in Melbourne Australia for an illumination engineering firm, he started modernizing the company’s testing reports using Microsoft Excel. Excel offered a rich presentation layer, but it wasn’t very efficient at managing large amounts of data. Databases at the time lacked graphical capabilities and Microsoft’s newly released Visual Basic lacked database support. Then Access 1.0 arrived, combining the best elements of all three, and Kevin was hooked.
Over the years Kevin has been a member, officer and frequent presenter at the Denver Area Access User Group and now regularly attends both the Seattle Access User Group and the Pacific Northwest Access Developers Group. Kevin is thrilled to be speaking at the 2011 Portland Database Designers Conference.

Kevin Nickel has been working as a test engineer on Microsoft Access since his time as a Microsoft intern in 2005, when he helped ship the Export to PDF feature. Since then, he’s shipped Access 2007, 2010 and most recently 2013. He has worked across many areas of the product but his primary focus has been on forms, both the underlying technologies and the user experience. Kevin takes a special interest in the performance of Access 2013 web apps from optimizing javascript and HTML to analyzing network traffic.
Kevin has been a speaker at the Seattle Access User’s Group, the SharePoint Conference, and will be presenting at the upcoming TechEd conference in New Orleans.
