Vaquero Energy Case Study

Vaquero Energy

Need:

To track maintenance and efficiency of 500+ oil wells.

Solution:

WellWatch immediately identified an under-producing well and boosted Vaquero’s annual revenue by $100,000.

Technologies used:

Access, SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

Vaquero Energy selected J Street to develop a custom system to track maintenance and efficiency for their field of over 500 oil wells in Bakersfield, California. When WellWatch went live, it immediately suggested that a particular well be tested. Although nobody suspected that the well had a problem, they followed the system’s advice and tested it. To their surprise they found that it was malfunctioning. Fixing that one pump resulted in increased revenue of over $100,000 per year. Vaquero continues to use J Street to enhance WellWatch including incorporating automatic oilfield production readings, tracking oil well equipment inventory and optimizing preventative maintenance schedules.

WellWatch1
WellWatch allows oil well operators and management to work from the same up-to-date information in a centralized SQL Server database, making it easy to find, sort and select wells that meet desired criteria.
WellWatch2
WellWatch allows the oil well producer to enter and track all the information needed for each well, in an easy-to-use interface. We even integrated a data feed from automatic pump-off controllers that are installed on some wells.
WellWatch3
Oil wells require a lot of expensive maintenance and testing, so it’s important to know the productivity and service history of each well. WellWatch not only keeps a comprehensive history of each well, but also uses that history to suggest wells that should be tested next.
